PRESENTATION OF NEW HELICOPTER AW139 TO THE MALTESE ARMED FORCES

On 6th August, a  new helicopter AW139 was given to the Maltese Armed Forces in the presence of the Parliamentary Secretary Sandro Gozi, the Minister of Home Affairs Manuel Mallia and the Commander of the AFM Jeffrey Curmi. The helicopter was provided by Agusta Westland.

During his speech, the Hon. Mallia explained that the new helicopter will contribute to enhancing Malta’s capacity for intervention in patrol and search and rescue operations. On the other hand, the Hon. Gozi said that the interoperability of Italian assets used in Malta will provide the opportunity to make collaboration between the two countries in these important sectors more efficient.

The event was also attended by the Commander of the Italian Military Mission Col. Luca Mariz, the Charge d’Affaires Enrico Berti and other representatives of the Italian Ministry of Defence: Gen. Luigi Chiapperini, Gen. Francesco Agresto and Col. Giovanni Ormetti. Furthermore two representatives of Agusta Westland: Dr. Marco Acca, director of sales in the military sector, and Engineer Maurizio Faucitano, director of sales in Southern Europe were also present.
