On the 28th October the new pharmaceutical factory of the Italian company Sterling Chemicals SpA of Perguia was inaugurated at Hal Far Industrial Zone (South of Malta). The inauguration ceremony, was attended by Ambassador Giovanni Umberto De Vito There was also a significant presence of the highest Maltese authorities, amongst which the Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, the Minister for the Economy Chris Cardona and the Chairman of Malta Enterprise Mario Vella. The Italian company Sterling was represented by its President Simone Ferlin.
The factory, with an investment of approximately 6.5 milion Euros, will produce active ingredients for use in the pharmaceutical industry destined primarily for export markets (China, Germany, United States and Switzerland).
The new investment follows those made by the company Dipharma which operates in Malta through the company Amino Chemicals.
With a total sum of over 400 milion euros, Italy is the fourth European country and the fifth overall with regards to direct foreign investments in Malta.
