On 22 November the official launch of the next cruising season of the Italian company “Costa Crociere” was held on board the “Favolosa”.
During the event – in which the Minister of Tourism Karmenu Vella, the Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy Dr. Enrico Berti, Dario Rustico (responsible for the sales and marketing of central Europe, Africa, Middle East and India of Costa Crociere) were present – Costa Crociere announced that in 2014 the company intended to carry out more than 70 stops in the port of Valletta. There will be 10 cruise ships of the Costa Crociere (Classica, Deliziosa, Diadema, Fascinosa, Favolosa, Magica, Neo Romantica, Neo Riviera Ibero Grand Holiday a Gran Celebration) which next year will be stopping in Malta, carrying a total of over 170,000 passengers.
Moreover in the forthcoming season Valletta will be a departure port for those tourists wanting to start there cruise from Malta. In fact, as of 2014, these tourists can board the “Neo Riviera” which offers a new itinerary with stops in Capri, Salerno, Portoferraio, Savona, Livorno, Olbia and Trapani.
In the first nine months of the year the Italians classified in the third place among the cruise ships passengers who chose Malta as their destination (about 50,000 out of a total of 310,000 arrivals).
