Ambassador De Vito is pleased to announce that this year, thanks to the financial support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maltese students and researchers will be able to continue their formation and enrich their curricula at prestigious Italian universities. Renowned universities such as “La Sapienza” of Rome and the “Politecnico” of Milan will host the beneficiaries of scholarships for Masters degree and university courses in industrial design, visual arts, philosophy and history of cinema.
A further positive aspect, which highlights the intensity of the relations of scientific and university cooperation between Italy and Malta, is represented by the growing number of Maltese and Italian professors who carry out study visits at the universities of both Countries. This year around twenty scholars have had the possibility to benefit from the funding for the exchange of lecturers in fields such as chemical, pharmacological and geological sciences, experimental biomedicine, structural engineering, education as well as psychology. Through these contacts in research areas of common interest, collaboration between the universities of both Countries are being intensified.
The ability of Italian universities to attract foreign lecturers, researchers and students not only in fields where Italian experience and know how have long been recognized but also in areas of innovation and high technology, bears witness to the potential of the Italian University and research system with positive repercussions also for the internationalization of the economy.
On this theme, please note that on the 14th of October 2013 the Italian Cultural Institute, in collaboration with the Embassy and the Malta Chamber of Scientists, will be organizing a seminar entitled ”Innovazione, ricerca e sviluppo: l’Italia dei saperi a Malta”.
