AMBASSADOR CONFERS ITALIAN DECORATION UPON THE LATE MR. PAUL ATTARD

On 1st December 2014, the Ambassador of Italy Giovanni Umberto De Vito conferred posthumously the decoration ‘Cavaliere dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia’ on late Mr. Paul Attard.

During a sober ceremony held at the Italian Cultural Institute, the outstanding role Mr. Paul Attard played in strengthening the collaboration between Italy and Malta was recalled. As President of the Foundation of St. John’s Co-Cathedral Mr. Attard was instrumental in several bilateral projects to restore and preserve Malta’s cultural heritage. His contribution to Italo-Maltese cultural relations was significant also in the restoration of the Chapel of Santa Caterina of Italy in Valletta.

The decoration upon Mr. Attard was received by his son, Col. David Attard, who attended the ceremony together with family relatives.
