On 29th July 2014 the Italian Cultural Institute marked the 40th anniversary of the inauguration of its current seat in Valletta.
To mark the occasion a concert of violin and .cello was held in the main hall of the Institute with Gennaro and Raffaella Cardaropoli, members of the “Duo Cardaropoli”, performing music of Bach, Duport, Boccherini, Paganini, Stamitz, Piatti, Wieniaski and Haendel-Halvorsen.
The event was attended by the Minister for Justice and Culture the Hon. Owen Bonnici and various representatives of the diplomatic missions and consular offices situated in Malta. The Ambassador of Italy Giovanni Umberto De Vito and the Director of the Institute Salvatore Schirmo commemorated the inauguration of the Institute’s seat at the Old Chancellery of the Order of St. John by the then Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Aldo Moro, in 1974.
The concert ended with the performance of music by Ennio Morricone and was followed by a reception.
