On 5th and 6th August the Parliamentary Secretary Sandro Gozi came on a visit to Malta for a series of talks. During his meetings with the Commissioner-designate Karmenu Vella, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for European Affairs the Hon. Louis Grech, the Minister for Foreign Affairs the Hon. George Vella and the Parliamentary Secretary for EU Funds the Hon. Ian Borg, the Hon. Gozi illustrated the priorities of the programme of the Italian Presidency of the EU.
The talks saw a convergence of views on the priorities of employment and the particular attention that needs to be given to the Mediterranean region due to the issue of immigration and the current situation in Libya.
