On 16th January the Ambassador of Italy Giovanni Umberto De Vito participated at the second meeting of the strategic project “Simit” funded by the operational programme Italy-Malta 2007-2013.
The project aims at creating an integrated Civil Protection system for the forecast, prevention and mitigation of risks of a geological nature in the Italo-Maltese cross-border area. The leader of the project is the regional Civil Protection Department of Sicily while the other four partners are the Universities of Palermo and Catania, the Civil Protection Department of Malta and the University of Malta.
During the meeting, Ambassador De Vito confirmed that the Embassy of Italy takes interest in and supports this strategic project which is a clear sign of the excellent relations which already exist between Italy and Malta.
