On 17th December the Italian Cultural Institute in Malta, in collaboration with the Italian Embassy, organised a traditional Christmas Concert at the prestigious Casino Maltese.
Throughout the evening, the Italian Kalypso Ensemble performed music of various composers among whom Puccini and Vivaldi as well as Rossini’s La Gazza Ladra and, on occasion of the 200th anniversary of his birth, Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata. The ensemble is composed of string and wind instruments and the members all form part of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.
The concert, which concluded the Institute’s programme of events for this year, was attended by a large audience and various distinguished guests including the Minister of Foreign Affairs the Hon. George Vella, the Minister of Home Affairs the Hon. Emmanuel Mallia and various members of the diplomatic corps.
