On 22nd May 2013 the Ambassador of Italy, Giovanni Umberto De Vito, paid a visit to the San Andrea School, which hosts, since 2010, a multicultural education project, also delivered in Italian. The project, available to Maltese, Italian and foreign students, contributes to the development of multilingualism, promotes Italian culture and offers the opportunity of cultural exchange between pupils of various nationalities.
The delegation led by the Ambassador also had the opportunity of visiting the Italian stand at the School, on the occasion of the San Andrea International Day.
During his visit to the School, the Ambassador, apart from meeting the teachers and students of the Italian-Maltese project, as well as the Maltese students who have chosen to study Italian as a foreign language, gave the School a financial contribution by the Italian Government for the promotion of the Italian language.
A brief news of the visit appeared on The Independent of June 9th 2013.
