EXHIBITION ON THE ART AND TECHNOLOGY OF RESTORATION IN ITALY

On 25th April 2013 at 7pm an exhibition entitled “Restoring in Italy. Art and Technology in the Activities of the Istituto Superiore per la Conservazione ed il Restauro” was inaugurated at the Italian Cultural Institute. Dr. Maria Concetta Laurenti, who flew from Rome for this occasion, addressed the public.

Organised under the patronage of the Embassy of Italy, and promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the exhibition covers a multitude of aspects, ranging from the conservation and restoration of artistic heritage to the application of innovative technologies, an area in which Italy has developed particular expertise, which is on demand worldwide.

The choice of Malta is a significant one, since it is a country which boasts of artistic treasures safeguarded by UNESCO, but especially due to Valletta’s role of European Cultural Capital in 2018. The initiative has raised interest and received support by various Maltese Institutions which collaborated to its realisation. The exhibition will remain open until 28th June 2013 in the two exhibition venues (the Italian Cultural Institute and the University of Malta).
