Scholarships
The internationalization of the Italian higher education system is a priority of the Italian public and cultural diplomacy. It is in fact a lever for Italy’s cultural and economic development and an effective foreign policy instrument.
With a view to facilitating student mobility, the Foreign Ministry annually grants scholarships for students, and through its diplomatic-consular network, it issues study visas, legalizations and declarations of value of degrees.
For up-to-date information on study opportunities in Italy and the relevant requirements, please consult the information made available by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on the Study in Italy portal.
University Cooperation
The University of Malta maintains collaborative relations with numerous Italian universities. Agreements are also in place with more than 30 Italian higher education institutions under the Erasmus/Socrates programmes, fostering academic mobility and exchanges of students and teaching staff.
Frequent exchanges of lecturers take place every year, in accordance with the quota provided for under the Executive Programme of the Cultural Agreement. Within research programmes, an Italian co-supervisor is also regularly appointed, while students are encouraged to attend courses at Italian universities through the Erasmus programme and to participate in conferences organised in Italy on topics related to their field of research.
At present, numerous Italian professors teach at the University of Malta, contributing to the strengthening of academic cooperation between the two countries.
