Scientific diplomacy

The intense scientific and technological cooperation between Italy and Malta is overseen by the Italian Embassy as part of a close collaboration between the University of Malta and several Italian universities.

Each year, the Italian Cultural Institute also organizes seminars in collaboration with the local university, featuring Italian experts on topics such as: environment and health, landscape and planning, astrophysics, artificial intelligence, biotechnology and genetically modified foods, urban regeneration, and the use and spread of electric vehicles.

In September 2024, a Scientific Cooperation Agreement was signed between the National Research Council of Italy and Malta’s national agency for research, innovation and space, Xjenzia Malta.
