Re-entry visa

The Type “D” re-entry visa allows foreigners who hold an Italian residence permit that has expired, or who are incidentally without such a document, to return to Italy.

Processing Times and Costs

The processing time for this type of visa can take up to 90 days.

The visa’s fee is €116.00.

Documentation to be submitted

On the day of your appointment the following documents must be provided:

  1. Application form for D-type/National visa duly filled up and signed;
  2. Passport-size photo compliant with international ICAO standards, full front, white background, and not older than 6 months;
  3. A valid passport (and a copy) satisfying the following criteria:
    1. Its validity must extend at least three months beyond the duration of the requested visa;
    2. It must contain at least two blank pages;
    3. It must have been issued within the last 10 years.
  4. Copy the lost/stolen/expired Italian residence permit/Permesso di soggiorno;
  5. Previous Schengen or National Visa (if applicable);
  6. A declaration describing in detail the situation of the applicant and the reason for requiring the re-entry visa together with any relevant supporting documentation. The declaration must also mention the exact date of exit from Italy and the residential address.
  7. If the Italian residence permit/Permesso di soggiorno was lost or stolen, copy of the Official Police report;
  8. Once the authorisation has been received, the applicant must provide one way travel ticket reservation.

PLEASE NOTE

In order to release the visa, the Consular office will need to be authorised from the competent Questura (Police station).
