On the occasion of Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Hon.<\/span><\/span> Antonio Tajani, shared a message paying homage to the victims of the Holocaust and calling for the cultivation of memory as a collective responsibility to combat anti-Semitism in all its forms.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Farnesina and the entire diplomatic and consular network confirm their commitment to the front lines of the fight against anti-Semitism.<\/p>\n

Full transcript of Minister Tajani’s video message:<\/p>\n

“Today, on the Holocaust Remembrance Day we pay tribute to the victims of the Shoah and honor the survivors, to ensure that the horror of the Holocaust never returns.<\/p>\n

Remembrance is not a formal ritual. It is a collective responsibility towards the future.<\/em><\/p>\n

I thank all the Italian Embassies, Consulates, and Cultural Institutes that are reinforcing this message today, all over the world, with many initiatives.<\/em><\/p>\n

It is our duty to deliver a world that is free from the virus of anti-Semitism to the new generations.<\/em><\/p>\n

As I had the honor of saying when, as Minister of Foreign Affairs, I represented the government at the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial Museum on Holocaust Remembrance Day, no one should ever again have to live in fear simply because they are Jewish.<\/em><\/p>\n

The abyss of the Shoah struck at the heart of our civilization and left an indelible mark on the history and identity of Europe.<\/em><\/p>\n

Remembering is not enough. We must remain vigilant.<\/em><\/p>\n

Anti-Semitism has not disappeared.<\/em><\/p>\n

It is a specter that continues to haunt our societies, in Europe and around the world.<\/em><\/p>\n

Unfortunately, we are reminded of this by cowardly terrorist attacks such as the one at Bondi Beach in Australia, which we condemn strongly and without hesitation.<\/em><\/p>\n

But also, by many incidents of daily violence and discrimination, even in our cities, even in Europe.<\/em><\/p>\n

Anti-Semitism is an invisible poison. Today, it spreads mainly online and on social media.<\/em><\/p>\n

We therefore need the antidote of memory, knowledge, and respect.<\/em><\/p>\n

We want to bring it more and more into schools, universities, and our streets.<\/em><\/p>\n

The fight against anti-Semitism is, to me, the battle of a lifetime, both politically and personally.<\/em><\/p>\n

There is no place for anti-Semitism. It is incompatible with our values, our principles, and our identity.<\/em><\/p>\n

The government is at the forefront of the fight against anti-Semitic hatred.<\/em><\/p>\n

It is a commitment that I bring to bear every day, both in Europe and at all international meetings, as a sign of our concrete and unceasing efforts to promote dialogue and peace.<\/em><\/p>\n
