Rome and Valletta agreed to jointly promote in Brussels this project originating from an Italian-Tunisian initiative. The planned submarine power cable will benefit energy security in the European Union and North Africa.<BR><BR>The \u201cELMED\u201d project will contribute to diversify energy sources and supply areas, reduce the environmental impact of energy production and foster regional collaboration between Mediterranean countries.\u00a0<BR><BR>The Embassy highly appreciates the support expressed by the Government of Malta to the European Commission.
